This Week's Pulse

On May 26, 2026, Walt Disney Studios released the official final trailer for Toy Story 5, introducing the world to the film's new smart tablet antagonist. But while Disney is pushing high-tech screens, comedian Conan O'Brien is hyping up a much lowlier piece of plastic. Speaking during his Harvard Commencement Address, featured on his podcast Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend, O'Brien boasted about his casting, noting that while other speakers have achieved civil rights milestones, "only I play a talking potty training gadget named Smarty Pants" in the upcoming sequel.

Whether O'Brien's potty-training character actually survives the final cut is another story. On a different episode of Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend, the host admitted that his voiceover career might already be over. "They are now editing me out of Toy Story 5- [laughs] I know... as we speak." O'Brien joked, laughing off the sudden firing. He assured his co-hosts that Pixar has the deep pockets required for a last-minute "$100 million fix" to replace him.

Fired or not, O'Brien is still acting as a self-appointed hype man for the movie. He wrapped up his commencement speech by telling the class of 2026 that their real education starts now, before urging everyone to "go forward together and see Toy Story Five in theaters everywhere June nineteenth." We will see if O'Brien's Smarty Pants makes it to the big screen, or if he is destined for the cutting room floor.
