Richarlison was named among the top Brazilian appearance-makers in Premier League history during a retrospective trivia segment this week, sparking a debate over his legacy.
On The Rest Is Football, host Micah Richards brought up the Tottenham Hotspur forward while listing top Brazilians in England, noting, "So we've had Edison, Richarlison-". But co-host Alan Shearer was quick to temper the praise, pointing out the striker's notorious inconsistency. Shearer argued that the forward is too streaky, saying, "One minute you think, yeah, and then for, for too long after that, you don't... You do- you never see it enough, um, in repetitive games".
According to Shearer, this inability to put together back-to-back performances has defined the forward's career across his various English clubs, noting there are "always flashes where you think, 'Yeah, look at that.' And then you don't see it again for a while". As Tottenham looks to solidify its squad for next season, Richarlison must prove he can deliver consistently if he wants to cement his status as a reliable Premier League star.
