The NCAA Women's College World Series is taking over Oklahoma City from May 28 to June 4, 2026, drawing thousands of softball fans to the region and turning local lodging into a highly competitive market.
But sports media's relationship with the city's hotel market is currently defined by missed opportunities. On Pardon My Take, NBA reporter Brian Windhorst lamented having to cancel his early bookings for the NBA playoffs. "I made Oklahoma City reservations, like, in November. And, uh, guys, I had such a crazy rate in Oklahoma City," Windhorst explained, noting that he got a bargain-basement deal of $107 a night before his playoff predictions fell through and left him with "egg all over my face."
While the Oklahoma City Thunder playoff schedule didn't cooperate with Brian Windhorst's travel planning, Oklahoma City remains a premier destination for championship athletics this spring. Visitors heading to the softball tournament will find that securing a cheap room in the city is now a much tougher challenge than it was back in November.
