On Pardon My Take, PFT Commenter crowned it "probably the greatest press conference in terms of, uh, funky math about the refs" after the coach hilariously extrapolated a lopsided second-half free-throw count into a hypothetical full-game blowout.
The tactical adjustments on the floor have been just as loud. On The Pat McAfee Show, Darius Butler declared that "Mike Brown's a genius" for pairing Jalen Brunson and Jose Alvarado to drag Victor Wembanyama out of the paint. Over on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Kirk Goldsberry highlighted the decision to bench Mikal Bridges for Alvarado down the stretch, noting, "This is a Knicks coach that, that, that is a first-year coach" who isn't afraid to make the tough calls. Brian Windhorst agreed on Pardon My Take, observing that "everybody he puts on the court is, like, playing awesome."
Not everyone is sold on the masterclass, however. On First Take, Kendrick Perkins argued that Mike Brown got outcoached in Game 3 and needs to "lock in and stick to the game plan" by routing the offense through Karl-Anthony Towns rather than letting Brunson over-dribble.
As the series heads into its final critical games, Mike Brown's high-stakes rotation gamble will either cement his genius status or prove Kendrick Perkins right.
