This Week's Pulse

Following his June 12, 2026 stand-up set at the Hollywood Improv, veteran comedian Dane Cook is finding his catalog at the center of a bizarre new tribute pitch. On Armchair Expert, host Dax Shepard floated a concept to perform cover versions of other comedians' famous routines, explaining, "It started with Dane Cook."

Shepard defended the high-wire ethics of comedic mimicry, drawing a line between simple imitation and a rotating tribute show. He argued that "... if I toured only as Dane Cook, that would be lazy, but if every city I've gotta learn a new, fully new routine, that's the opposite of lazy."

Whether Dane Cook himself would endorse having his early-2000s arena sets covered like classic rock songs is another question. For now, as Cook continues to headline real-world clubs, the podcasting world is already debating where homage ends and laziness begins.
