Elliott Morris have tried to parse the numbers to find a coherent trend, Sykes joked that voters simply like the concept of socialism without fully understanding the policy implications.
For Pfeiffer and other mainstream Democratic strategists, this ideological split represents a massive messaging challenge. If the party's voters are demanding both moderation and leftist economic policies, the path to building a winning national platform will require a level of rhetorical gymnastics that even seasoned communications pros will struggle to pull off.
