Between May 22 and 25, 2026, downtown Cincinnati came alive as the annual Taste of Cincinnati food festival took over Fifth Street. But while locals were busy lining up for street food, the podcast airwaves were offering Queen City residents a much longer, and highly impractical, road trip.
On The Best of Car Talk, legendary host Tom Magliozzi didn't let a little thing like geography get in the way of a good laugh. While dealing with a caller's transmission woes, Magliozzi extended an open invitation to anyone listening—even those calling in from far-off places like Cincinnati—to bring their vehicle straight to the garage, asking, "Can you drive over here? [laughs] Can you be here in half an hour?"
While Cincinnati culinary fans are happily staying put to enjoy their local eats, they probably shouldn't take Magliozzi's thirty-minute travel dare too seriously. Still, the next time a local needs a ring job or some automatic transmission fluid, the long drive to Boston might just be worth the comedic commentary.
